The Minnesota House of Representatives received committee assignments yesterday. I’m happy to announce I’ve been assigned to be the vice-chairman of the Local Property Tax subcommittee of the Tax Committee, as well as a member of the regular Tax Committee. As the name suggests, this committee deals with all things concerning Minnesota taxes. My background in local government was likely a factor in my being named vice-chairman of the subcommittee. The Tax Committee is bound to be an important contributor as we work to make Minnesota more competitive with other states and countries. I’ve also been appointed to the Commerce and Regulatory Committee and the Education Reform Committee. Both of these committees have been charged with improving the areas under their jurisdiction.
The members of the House will be sworn in on January 4, 2011 at the Capitol in St. Paul. I am anxious to begin the critical work that you elected me to do; balance the budget, reduce taxes and spending, promote private business growth, reform education, and limit government in Minnesota.
Barb & I wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and a healthy, happy 2011. We appreciate all the support and good wishes we have received and look forward to seeing all of you in the near future.
Thanks again for trusting me with this opportunity to improve Minnesota.
