America Needs an All of the Above Energy Strategy

Dear friend,

This week Europe and California were in the headlines because their forced transitions to “green energy” have severely backfired. These examples should serve as a lesson to everyone about the dangers of extensive energy transition mandates instead of relying on an all of the above energy supply.

Over the past decade, European policymakers made the misguided decision to reject nuclear power and became dependent on Russia as their primary natural gas provider while forcing a transition to alternative sources of energy. And in California, the radical left has chosen to force a transition to unreliable sources of energy that fail to provide enough electricity when demand is high, leading to rationing, rolling blackouts and brownouts. Leaders in Europe and California withdrew reliable energy from their citizenry and their prices continue to skyrocket.

In today’s modern society, there is no reason for Americans to not have the capacity to affordably cool or heat their homes but for failed leftist climate policies. It’s clear that America needs an all of the above energy strategy to ensure Americans have access to affordable and reliable electricity and energy. However, time and again President Biden continues to cave to radical activists who wholeheartedly desire to dismantle our energy progress and put us in perilous circumstances regarding our energy security.

From canceling the Keystone XL pipeline on his first day in office to restricting oil and gas leasing on federal lands to shutting down domestic mining projects that will supply the very minerals needed for alternative energy options, the Biden Administration has been working directly against our nation’s energy independence and security.

Instead of continuing down this dangerous path, President Biden should learn from the mistakes of Europe and California and support an all of the above energy approach that relies on our abundant, God-given American resources. Right here in the United States, we have plentiful energy sources, a well-trained and dedicated workforce and the best environmental standards in the world.

Green activists should take note – an all of the above energy strategy is absolutely necessary to protect our nation’s future – not more failed, unreasonable, unattainable energy policies from the left. Providing every American family with affordable and reliable energy is well within our reach as it has been for decades past, we just need Biden and his Administration to end their war on American energy and instead work towards bringing back energy dominance.

Remembering 9/11

This Sunday marks the 21st anniversary of 9/11, the deadliest terrorist attack on United States soil. From that day on, our nation was forever changed. We will never forget the thousands of lives lost in the 9/11 attacks, or the courageous and selfless first responders, firefighters, and police officers who rushed into harm’s way to save their fellow Americans.

On Thursday, the Energy and Mineral Resources Subcommittee, where I serve as the top Republican, held a field hearing in California. The hearing topic was the offshore wind leasing program, and I discussed how we need to source the materials for energy technology domestically, the need for a diverse portfolio of energy, and the need for permitting reform.
Once again, I appreciate you staying up to date with the work I am doing for Minnesota’s Eighth District. It is an honor to represent you in Congress. For more information, visit my website, Facebook, and Twitter pages.

Sincerely,

Congressman Pete Stauber
