CD8-State Conventions – Delegate Self Nomination Form
To: All those Delegates/Alternates and Caucus Attendees interested in being elected a Delegate to the 8th Congressional and State Conventions representing Kanabec County.
Organization:
The Chair is creating this Self Nomination form for all folks who might have an interest in serving as a Delegate or Alternate Delegate to the 8th Congressional and State Conventions representing Kanabec County. Kanabec County is allowed a total of 10 Delegates and 20 Alternate Delegates to the CD8 and State Conventions. Alternate Delegates will be ranked according to their vote totals at the Kanabec County Convention. All Delegates and Alternate Delegates elected will representKanabec County at both CD8 and the State Convention.
Duties:
Delegates and Alternate Delegates are expected to attend the 8th Congressional District Convention to be held on Saturday April 25, 2026 in Brainerd, MN and the State Convention to be held on May 30-31 in Duluth, MN. There will also be an 8th Congressional Convention to be held in April of 2027. Your commitment to attending these Conventions is very important in your role as Delegate. Keep in mind the time commitment associated with attending and that there will also be a registration feeassociated with attending. If you are unable to make the outlined commitment we suggest you support another like minded Convention Attendee in your stead.
Process:
All those interested in becoming a Delegate to the CD8 and State Conventions must fill out this Self Nomination Form in advance of, or on the morning of the Convention. Your only requirement is to hand in your Self Nomination Form to the Nominating Committee Chair, Tina Simons, in advance or on Saturday morning. Your Self Nomination form will be reviewed for completeness and the Nominations Committee will answer any questions you may have. We plan on accepting Self Nomination forms until the deadline of 10 minutes after the end of the Nominating Committee Report as listed on the Agenda. Nominations will be accepted from the floor before voting but will require a second. Their name will not appear on the pre-printed ballot but will be numbered and listed on the White Board and will have to be handwritten in on the pre-printed ballot. After closing acceptance of the Self Nomination Forms and before voting a Poster sized ballot listing all potential delegates along with an assigned number will be available for review by the Convention. Before voting, each potential Delegate will have one (1) minute to tell the Convention why they should be elected Delegate. Voting will then commence on separate pre-printed ballots.
