Legislative Update from Rep. Sondra Erickson

February 25, 2022

Dear Neighbors,

I announced Wednesday that I will not seek re-election this November and will instead retire from public service when my current term ends in January.

It has been the opportunity of a lifetime to represent our area in the state legislature and I thank the citizens of District 15A for putting their trust in me to serve them and their families in St. Paul.

Thank you to everyone that offered their support during my many years in public service. I look forward to spending more time with my family and friends as I step away from public office.

As a former teacher, I have dedicated a lot of my time and energy to shaping education—serving as Chair of the Education Policy Committee during the 2011-2012, 2015-2016, and 2017-2018 legislative bienniums. Additionally, I am proud to have served as Chair of the Ethics Committee during the 2003-2004, 2005-2006, 2011-2012, 2015-2016, and 2017-2018 bienniums.

Even though I am not seeking re-election, I nevertheless will continue to serve you and your family through the end of the year. Please continue to reach out to me with any questions, comments, or concerns you may have related to state government.

Supporting Law Enforcement

House Democrats have proven once again that they simply cannot come to an agreement on issues related to public safety and law enforcement.

Anyone paying attention can see that Democrats have focused their energy on attacking law enforcement, demanding police be defunded, and stood on the sidelines during riots in the Twin Cities.

This past week, Democrat leaders held a press conference—trying to paint a different picture of their record on crime.

Make no mistake, Twin Cities Democrats have made clear their disdain for law enforcement over the last several years. Don’t let election year politics and gimmicks convince you otherwise.
