Dear Friends,
I hope you’ve stayed safe on the roads with the first few snow days of the year. I know I am looking forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas spent with family, friends and loved ones.
Unfortunately, the holiday feasts are going to be a lot more expensive this year and presents, assuming they will be on store shelves, also are going to cost quite a bit more than previous years.
The rising costs of goods, energy, and services is putting a strain on family budgets and Democrat run government is only making it worse. Thanks to out of control spending at the federal level, it’s families across Minnesota and America who will and are paying the literal price.
Next session, I’m sure Democrats will be back with their proposals to increase the gas tax, raise taxes on small businesses, and other bad policies that would make the problem even worse.
Minnesotans need Democrats to stop the tax-and-spend spree, and stop the runaway inflation that’s driving up the cost of living for families across the state.
November Election Results
Minneapolis residents rejected an extreme “defund the police” agenda being pushed via ballot question and by candidates for Mayor and City Council. The ballot measure failed overwhelmingly, 56.1% – 43.1%. This is good news for anyone who cares about public safety – this measure was too extreme even for voters in deep blue Minneapolis.
The reality is everyone — from small rural towns to our largest urban cities — want to feel safe and they know a strong law enforcement presence makes communities safer. Earlier this fall, North Minneapolis publicly pleaded with Governor Walz and state-level Democrats for additional law enforcement resources. These pleas fell on deaf ears.
In the Minnesota House, Republicans have put forward numerous solutions to try to address rising crime rates including boosting resources to high-risk areas, expanded use of Shot Spotter technology, utilizing federal partnerships focused on reducing violent crime, and pilot programs like the COP House in St. Cloud to enhance police-community relations.
Voters sent a clear message that they reject these extreme policies, and want elected officials to focus on keeping our communities safe.
