Sharing a tribute by Dan Cook
Remembering Bob Engberg

Every time I see Old Glory flying on high, I will remember Bob Engberg. No one I know loved the United States of America as he did, so it will be a constant reminder to me, to us all.

When someone dies, many thoughts come to mind: number one, we will miss his sagacity and wisdom; we will always be searching for the right expression to convey a thought; two, we will miss his enthusiasm for just diving into a new project or idea; three, I personally will miss Bob as a constant helper in planning some activity, like all the parade floats we completed, along with Jim Evenson, Darlene Milless, Ken Stumpf, and a host of others. Bob was our parade “sound man”. He will be sorely missed.

Even though his death, at this writing, is a bit of a mystery, I understand that he died at home, peacefully, and without stress and suffering. It was as he wanted it. The clock had run out.

Philosophical, intelligent, experienced, kindly, worldly-wise, patriotic, community minded, and fiercely American! These words describe Bob. He did not appreciate the many weak-minded people that inhabit our country today, nor the immigrants, both legal and otherwise, who have come here to tear America down. Bob was an old fashioned, down to earth guy with all the values we wish more Americans followed and practiced. Going forward, let’s follow Bob’s leadership, and just wish him God speed.
